Shiva, Cassie, and the Sacred Dance: When the Divine Invites Itself into the Ordinary

1. An Unexpected Encounter: Shiva Imposes Himself on Me

Everything started with a synchronicity, one of those moments when the universe seems to whisper in our ear. While browsing YouTube aimlessly, a mantra chant dedicated to Shiva caught my attention. From the first notes, I felt His presence — a powerful and enveloping energy, as if the divine had chosen this moment to reveal itself. It wasn’t just passive listening, but an invitation, a door opening onto a sacred dimension that I sensed but did not yet fully grasp.

2. Cassie, an Unwitting Mediator

However, Cassie, my cat, did not share my enthusiasm for the music. The vibrations of the mantras seemed to bother her, as if her feline hypersensitivity perceived frequencies invisible to my ears. Rather than giving up, I adapted my practice: I learned, with the help of artificial intelligence, to reproduce the Shiva mantra with my own voice. Thus was born our ritual for three. My hands traced sacred triangles in the air, symbols of creation, preservation, and destruction, the three aspects of the Trimurti. These gestures, which I moved up and down above Cassie and myself, became a bridge between the visible and the invisible.

With every movement, Cassie reacted with touching intensity. When my hands approached her, she would place a kiss on them, as if she recognized in Shiva a familiar presence. I deeply believe that she perceives spirituality in these moments, not through concepts, but through the pure intention that animates our hearts. Animals, and cats in particular, are beings of vibration: they sense authenticity and respond to the call of love, even when it emanates from a deity.

3. The Water Dance Yoga: An Alchemy Between Body and Soul

This experience marked a turning point in my life. The ‘coincidences’ multiplied, those small daily miracles that, when assembled, paint a divine pattern. One of the most striking was my decision to practice what I call water dance yoga in my bathroom. Water, a purifying element, is linked to Shiva through the Ganges, which springs from His tangled hair. Dancing under the stream of water, letting the drops slide over my face while chanting the mantra, I felt a vibrant energy invade me.

Colors began to appear: violet, symbol of spiritual transformation; orange, energy of the second chakra, seat of creativity and joy; and green, that of the heart chakra, center of love and compassion. These hues seemed to dance around me, as if Shiva Himself had unfolded them to remind me that spirituality is a sensory experience, an alchemy between body and soul.

4. A Hand on the Shoulder: Divine Gratitude

Cassie watched these moments with an almost human attention, as if she were guarding the sacred that was unfolding. Yet, some days, she preferred to retreat, choosing a nap or her independence. Cats know when to give and when to preserve themselves, a wisdom that we humans too often forget. In her silence, she taught me a precious lesson: spirituality cannot be forced, it is lived with respect for each one’s rhythms — including her own.

6. A Dance of Three: Shiva, Cassie, and I

This practice, born of chance and adaptation, has become much more than a ritual. It is a celebration of life, a recognition of the divine presence in the ordinary. Shiva is not a distant deity: He is in the rising chant, in the flowing water, in the soft paws of a cat who chooses to participate… or to move away. And perhaps that is the most beautiful lesson: the sacred can invite itself everywhere, even in the simplest gestures. All it takes is to open your eyes, your heart, and to dance — each at their own pace.
