Mindfulness with Cassie, who lives from the heart 🐾
There are days when I realize something very simple… and yet immense:
I often live on autopilot.
I do things because I have to.
I answer quickly.
I think about what comes next.
I eat while looking somewhere else.
I walk without feeling my steps.
And sometimes, without even noticing, I move through my own life as if I were a train running on invisible tracks.
Then Cassie arrives.
She doesn’t make noise, but she does something even more powerful:
she brings me back to presence.
1) Autopilot: the silent thief 🕯️
Autopilot is not “bad.”
It can even be useful.
It helps us drive without thinking about every movement.
It helps us do repetitive tasks.
But the problem is that sometimes…
it spreads everywhere.
And then:
-
we live without really tasting life,
-
we speak without truly listening,
-
we eat without really enjoying,
-
we breathe without truly breathing,
-
we love without truly being there.
We become a rushed version of ourselves.
A version that does… but doesn’t feel anymore.
2) Becoming aware: the first awakening 🌙
In mindfulness, we don’t try to be “perfect.”
We simply try to see what is here.
Becoming aware of automatic habits is like turning on a small light in a dark room.
The room hasn’t changed.
But you can see.
And as soon as you see…
you are no longer completely trapped.
That is inner freedom:
a space between the stimulus and the response.
A space where you can choose.
3) Cassie doesn’t live on autopilot 🐾✨
Cassie teaches me a lesson without words.
She doesn’t do things “out of habit.”
She does them from the heart.
When she eats, it’s not just “eating.”
It’s an experience.
She tastes.
She enjoys.
She is there.
When she comes close to me…
It’s not to follow an obligation.
It’s not “automatic.”
It’s because she wants my presence.
Because she chooses.
And that… is precious.
In a world where everyone is rushing, Cassie reminds me:
we can slow down and be real.
4) Meditating with sincerity, not to “do it right” 🧘♂️
I often see people meditate like they are ticking a box.
“ I must meditate for 10 minutes.”
“ I must be calm.”
“ I must stop thinking.”
But meditation is not a performance.
It is a return.
A return to:
-
the breath,
-
the body,
-
the present moment,
-
simplicity.
Cassie doesn’t meditate to succeed.
She meditates because her being is sincere.
When she settles down.
When she closes her eyes.
When she becomes still.
It feels like she is saying:
“I am here. That’s all.”
And inside that “all,” peace is already there.
5) The heart is true mindfulness ❤️
Sometimes we think mindfulness is only about observing.
But for me, deep mindfulness…
it’s not only seeing.
It’s seeing with gentleness.
It’s looking at our habits without judging.
It’s noticing our reactions without punishing ourselves.
It’s feeling our emotions without fighting.
Because judgment is also an automatic habit.
And Cassie doesn’t judge herself.
She lives.
She doesn’t ask:
-
“Am I good enough?”
-
“Am I doing this correctly?”
-
“Do I deserve love?”
She is here.
Whole.
Simple.
6) A simple practice to break autopilot 🌬️
I do this exercise when I feel myself speeding up again.
🌿 Exercise: “Stop, Breathe, Choose” (1 minute)
-
Stop: I pause for one second.
-
Breathe: I take 3 slow breaths.
-
Choose: I ask myself:
-
What am I doing right now?
-
Am I doing it on autopilot?
-
What do I truly want right now?
-
And sometimes, the answer is very simple:
-
drink a glass of water,
-
stretch,
-
pet Cassie,
-
breathe,
-
come back to myself.
7) When Cassie comes to me: a lesson in conscious love 🐾💛
There is a moment I love.
Cassie approaches.
She doesn’t demand anything.
She doesn’t force anything.
She sits.
She looks.
And I understand.
She is there because she chose to be there.
It’s not an automatic gesture.
It’s a presence offered.
And I can offer my presence too.
Without my phone.
Without thoughts running away.
Without “I have to do something else.”
Just me.
Just her.
Just the moment.
Conclusion: live slower, live more truly 🌙✨
Becoming aware of automatic habits is not about becoming a perfect machine.
It’s about becoming human again.
It’s about stopping the chase…
and touching life again.
Cassie reminds me every day of a gentle truth:
Presence is love in action.
And when I return to the moment…
when I eat with pleasure,
when I breathe with sincerity,
when I meditate with my heart,
I become alive again.
Like her.
